A very productive meeting took place this morning at Cannock Police Station to seek a way forward to ease the disruption following the Hednesford Raceway event, held on Sunday, 13th January, 2019.
Present at the meeting were Police Officers, the local PCSO, representatives from the Raceway, officers from Cannock Chase District Council and County Councillors Bryan Jones and Phil Hewitt.
A raft of measures were discussed including parking inside and adjacent to the venue, the effective use of cones and where to place them, the number of stewards required and greater use of social media to raise awareness for visitors on where to park.
By far the the most discussed item was looking at alternative arrangements for ‘off road’ parking at places close to the Raceway itself, with the option of a ‘park and ride’ type scheme.
This is very much work in progress.
County Councillor Bryan Jones said “ The Raceway typically holds three major events per year. The events bring in much needed revenue to our local businesses and are a great family spectacle. I’m hopeful that this very positive meeting will lead to to a resolution whereby those attending can enjoy the day and local residents will be free from inconsiderate parking with the roads being kept clear.
